MMy Medina

Privacy policy

What My Medina collects, why, for how long, with whom, and what you can demand. This page describes the site as it works today. Translation provided for information; the French version prevails.

In short

You can browse My Medina without giving anything: no account, no advertising cookies, no audience measurement. Personal data is collected only if you provide it: by creating an account, posting a review, answering a call for contributions or translations, requesting a route from your location, or taking part in a report. It is neither sold nor rented.

Browsing the site

Like any website, the host records connection logs (IP address, date and time, pages viewed, browser type), which are used to keep the site running and secure.

No cookies are set: no advertising, no audience measurement. The site only uses your browser's storage for technical purposes: keeping you signed in if you are logged in (30 days at most), remembering the language you chose, and speeding up the display of menus during your visit. This information stays on your device.

Your My Medina account

Creating an account is optional. It is used to keep your favourites (places, reports, routes), post reviews and receive notifications.

Contributing to My Medina

Call for contributions. If you agree, from your account, to be invited to contribute to reports, we record this consent and its date, as well as the contact details you choose to give (phone, WhatsApp, city, bio). They are used only to suggest reports to you; each invitation lets you stop receiving them, and you may withdraw your consent at any time.

Call for translations. A translation sent from the reserved page records your name, email address, text and the date of your confidentiality undertaking; it is sent to us by email to be reviewed before being used in the subtitles. Your name is published only with your consent.

People appearing in the reports

The reports give a voice to artisans, shopkeepers and residents of the medina. For each person interviewed, we record their name, the language and contact method they chose (phone, WhatsApp or email), and their validation answers: decision, permissions granted, corrections requested, signature and, where applicable, a voice message.

The full rules are set out in our code of ethics.

Routes and maps

To plan a route from where you are, the site asks for access to your location, which you may refuse. This location is sent, through our server, to the openrouteservice route-planning service; it is not kept unless you save the route in your favourites.

Map backgrounds are loaded from OpenStreetMap servers, and fonts from Google Fonts: as for any resource loaded on a page, these services receive your browser's IP address. A link to Google Maps sends nothing to Google until you click on it.

Payments

The guides are free at present: no bank details are requested or stored. If a guide becomes paid, payment will go through a specialised provider, and this page will be completed before payment opens.

Recipients and providers

Your data is accessible only to MIA Synergie and to the technical providers needed for the service, who act only on its instructions:

No data is sold, rented or used for advertising.

Retention periods

Security

Exchanges with the site are encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are stored encrypted. The site administration is restricted to protected accounts, and private files (voice messages, unblurred original photos) cannot be reached from any public address.

Your rights

The site is published from Morocco and is aimed at an international audience. Two frameworks apply:

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction and objection regarding the data concerning you, as well as the right to data portability. You may at any time withdraw a consent you have given (contribution, publication of contact details, AI tool) and ask for your account to be deleted.

To exercise these rights, write to contact@mia-synergie.com. You will receive a reply within one month at most. In the event of disagreement, you may refer the matter to the CNDP in Morocco, or to the data protection authority of your country of residence in the European Union.
